This course is designed to assist the experienced traffic crash investigator with the additional technical knowledge and skills for the effective and efficient investigation of motorcycle crashes. The likelihood of a motorcycle and its driver being involved in a crash increases each year as our roadways become more congested with motor vehicle traffic.
This course will include various field tests that will show the student motorcycle acceleration, skid tests, how to examine the crash scene for technical components, different tire designs, different cycle/driver weight elements and preparing a case for court proceedings.
Topics include:
• Determining acceleration and deceleration characteristics of the motorcycle
• Determining operator skill level
• Crash scene evidence and preservation (photographing)
• Reviewing motorcycle tires, helmets and other equipment
• Diagramming the crash scene
• Understanding the unique modes of motorcycle handling characteristics and stability
• Utilizing practical application of traffic investigative formulas (projects)
• TCA Codes related to motorcycle operation

Prerequisite: It is suggested that the attendee have successfully completed the Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation Course.

Course length: 40 hours.
